Activity Details:

Illustrators will bring their favorite stories to life as they become familiar with professional illustration techniques, including pen and ink drawings, watercolor paintings, and cartooning. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Sana Takeda, Edward Gorey, Maira Kalman, Maurice Sendak, and Roz Chast, Build a vocabulary in the techniques used by some of the most well known illustrators of our time. Then, students will get a chance to create their own illustrated stories, inspired by their island adventures! 8:45AM DROP OFF:@ Governors Island Ferry loading dock and signed over to CMA staff before the 9AM ferry. 9 - 10 AM Ferry Ride & Supervised Play @ Nolan Park. 10AM–4PM CLASS: Lunch break at 12PM, with supervised outdoor play on the Island. 4-5PM Supervised play in Nolan Park. 5-5:10 PM PICK UP: Campers and staff take the ferry back to the Battery Maritime Building. Parents sign out campers with CMA staff. No extended day options. $25 late pickup fee after 5:10pm
