At BAX, students develop improvisational, compositional, and performance skills, while working both independently and with collaborators. BAX empowers young artists from tots to teens to tell their own stories and develop their skills in dance, theater and tumbling. Explore the wholistic, body centric and organic vocabulary of Umfundalai: Contemporary African Dance Technique to generate collective and self-expression. Discuss and dismantle gender archetypes and learn about Drag Performance’s rich cultural history and roots in queer performance traditions. And for our tots, discover the concepts of Body, Space, Shape and Time while cultivating individual expression using imagery, music, stories, and props in our Creative Movement classes. BAX offers School Breaks Programming for President's Week, Spring Break, and Summer in addition to year-round classes.
